Welcome to FarSight XR. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the FarSight XR mobile app (the "App") or visit farsightxr.com (the "Website"). Together, we call these the "Service." In this policy, "FarSight XR," "we," "us," and "our" refer to FarSight XR, LLC, the company that operates the Service.

This policy has three parts:

Sections that apply to everything (children's privacy, your rights, security, and how to contact us) follow Part 2.

Our Commitments at a Glance

  • The App does not send your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location to us or to anyone else.
  • The App does not show advertising and does not use an advertising identifier.
  • The App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We do not sell or "share" (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information.
  • Camera images used for augmented reality are processed on your device and are not sent to us.

Part 1: The FarSight XR App (Version 3.0 and Later)

Information the App Collects

The App does not collect information that identifies you, such as your name, email address, or phone number. It does collect the limited, anonymous technical information described below.

Anonymous app identifier

When you open the App, it creates a random, anonymous identifier for your installation using Google Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in). This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any account, and we cannot use it to find out who you are. We use it to secure our servers and to keep the usage and purchase information described below separate for each installation.

App usage information

We record limited information about how the App is used, linked only to the anonymous identifier. This includes:

  • when the App was first installed and how often it is opened;
  • which experiences and content are viewed;
  • purchase, free-trial, and subscription events (for example, that a trial started or a subscription was renewed);
  • the App version and device platform (iOS or Android).

This information is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database. We use it to understand which content is used, to fix problems, and to improve the App.

Crash and diagnostic information

If the App crashes or runs into an error, Google Firebase Crashlytics collects a crash report. The report includes technical details such as the device model, operating system version, App version, the state of the App when it crashed, and an installation identifier. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs.

Purchase information

All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your payment card details, name, or billing address. We receive transaction information from Apple or Google, such as the product purchased, the purchase date, the subscription status, and a transaction identifier. We use it to unlock and restore your purchases and to check that purchases are valid. Apple's and Google's handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policies.

App integrity and configuration

To protect our servers from abuse, the App uses Google Firebase App Check, which works with Apple App Attest on iOS and Google Play Integrity on Android to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the App. The App also uses Google Firebase Remote Config to download settings and content updates. These services process technical information such as device and App identifiers. They do not identify you personally.

Push notifications (optional)

After a purchase, the App may ask your permission to send notifications. If you agree, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your device a notification token so that notifications can be delivered. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings. If you decline, no token is used for notifications.

Device permissions

  • Camera: Required for augmented reality. The camera feed is processed on your device in real time to place 3D content in your surroundings. We do not store camera images or send them to our servers.
  • Notifications: See "Push notifications" above.

Information stored only on your device

Some information is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else:

  • Name or nickname (optional): When the App is used by one person (rather than in a shared or classroom setting), it may ask for a name or nickname so it can greet you and personalize text and spoken greetings in AR experiences. You can skip this step.
  • Year of birth: The App may ask for a year of birth so it can turn on additional protections for younger users (see "Children's Privacy" below).
  • Settings, progress, and purchase status: Stored so the App works properly, including offline.

Deleting the App removes this information from your device.

How We Use App Information

We use the information above to:

  • provide, maintain, and secure the App;
  • unlock, verify, and restore purchases and subscriptions;
  • diagnose crashes and fix bugs;
  • understand which content is used so we can improve the App;
  • send notifications, if you have allowed them.

We do not use App information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of individual users.

Service Providers for the App

We use the following providers to operate the App. They process information on our behalf and under their own privacy and security commitments:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Crashlytics, App Check, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging): Firebase Privacy and Security
  • Apple (App Store purchases and App Attest): Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google Play (Google Play purchases and Play Integrity): Google Privacy Policy
  • PTC Vuforia Engine (augmented reality technology): Vuforia recognizes images and surfaces using the camera feed on your device. Camera images are not sent to PTC or to us. Vuforia may send limited technical information, such as device model, operating system, and App identifier, to PTC to support licensing and engine performance; this information is not used to identify you. Version 3.0 of the App does not include the Facebook (Meta) SDK, Unity Analytics, or Google Analytics for Firebase.

Part 2: The FarSight XR Website

Information You Give Us

If you contact us through the Website's contact form or our Privacy Requests form, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, and message. We use it only to respond to you and to keep a record of our correspondence.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Server and security logs: Like most websites, our hosting provider and security software automatically log technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, and the date and time of requests. This information is used to keep the Website secure and working properly.
  • Embedded YouTube videos: Some pages include videos hosted by YouTube (Google). We embed them using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which limits the data YouTube stores before you play a video. When a video loads or plays, YouTube may receive information such as your IP address and device and browser details, and may store data on your device, under Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare and spam protection: The Website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, and our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell real visitors apart from automated spam bots. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser and device characteristics. Cloudflare uses this information to provide its security and delivery services, not for advertising. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Your Choices

The Website uses only cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work securely (for example, to protect our forms from spam). We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on the Website. Embedded YouTube videos may set their own cookies when played, as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the Website may not work properly without them.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common standard for how websites should respond to it, the Website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We do not track visitors across other companies' websites.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:

  • with the service providers listed in this policy, so they can operate the Service on our behalf;
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or FarSight XR;
  • as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

Data Retention

  • App usage and purchase records (linked to the anonymous identifier) are kept for as long as they are needed to provide the App and support purchases, and are then deleted or aggregated.
  • Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
  • Website analytics data collected before we stopped using Google Analytics is kept for no longer than 14 months from collection and then deleted.
  • Correspondence and privacy requests are kept for as long as needed to respond to you and for our records.

Children's Privacy

FarSight XR is an educational app suitable for all ages, including children. We designed the App to collect as little information as possible:

  • The App does not collect a child's name, email address, phone number, photo, or location. An optional name or nickname, if entered, stays on the device.
  • The App has no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no social features, no chat, and no public sharing.
  • The only information the App sends to us is the anonymous technical and usage information described in Part 1. It is used solely to support the App's internal operations: to operate, secure, and improve the App.
  • In-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google, and parents can control them with the parental controls on the device (such as Apple's "Ask to Buy" or Google Play's purchase approvals).

Additional protections for younger users. The App may ask for a year of birth, which is stored only on the device. When the user is under 14, or when the App is set up for shared or classroom use (in which case these protections apply to everyone), the App:

  • shows web-based educational content in a private mode that does not save cookies or browsing data on the device;
  • copies links that would open the device's web browser, instead of opening the browser directly, so a parent or teacher can choose whether to visit them;
  • keeps web content on the page the App opened and on our own Website, and turns off links to other websites;
  • does not show prompts asking the user to rate the App.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, for example through a form on our Website, please let us know through our Privacy Requests form and we will delete it.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Delete App data on your device: Delete the App. This removes locally stored data, including any name or nickname and year of birth, and the anonymous identifier from your device.
  • Notifications: Turn notifications on or off at any time in your device settings.
  • Cookies: Block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
  • Requests: You may ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by using our Privacy Requests form. Because App data is anonymous, we may need your help to identify the records that relate to you (for example, the approximate date of a purchase). We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. For example, if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may also have the right to restrict or object to processing, the right to data portability, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Where these laws apply, we rely on performing our contract with you (such as delivering purchases), our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service, and your consent (for optional Website cookies and notifications, which you can withdraw at any time). Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and App integrity checks. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Part 3: Earlier Versions of the App (Version 2.x and Earlier)

Versions of the App released before version 3.0 included third-party analytics services that version 3.0 no longer uses. If you still use an earlier version, the following also applies. We recommend updating to the latest version of the App.

Facebook (Meta) SDK

Earlier versions included the Facebook SDK, which could collect App events (such as App installs and launches) and device information, including, where permitted, the device's advertising identifier. This data was collected and stored by Meta under the Meta Privacy Policy. To manage or delete data that Meta has collected, visit your Facebook settings or follow these instructions. In versions released after September 1, 2023, you can also use the button in the App's Settings > Data Controls screen.

Unity Analytics

Earlier versions used Unity Analytics to collect aggregated usage data. Versions released after September 1, 2023 include an opt-out button in the App's Settings > Data Controls screen, which opens a Unity web page where you can manage your privacy settings for that app and device. For more information, see Unity's Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics for Firebase

Some earlier versions used Google Analytics for Firebase to collect App usage events, such as screens viewed and experiences started. This data was processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

Local data in earlier versions

To delete data that an earlier version of the App stored on your device, delete the App.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make significant changes, we will give additional notice, for example through the App or on the Website.
